Ron Paul: No More GOP Debates Please!!

After much consideration, I have developed the opinion that Ron Paul should no longer be allowed to participate in any further Republican Debates He does not belong on stage with the rest of the field.

That’s right, I said it, and I stand behind the statement.

I mean, should the Republicans allow Mike Gravel to debate with the serious GOP candidates? I think not. He’s a Democrat, for heaven’s sake

Well, Ron Paul is a Libertarian. He even ran for President as the LP candidate in 1998.

I’ve said several times that if Dr. Paul does not win the GOP nomination, he’d run as the Libertarian nominee. Until recently, I fully felt that my prediction would come to fruition.

But what about Unity08?

I’ve blogged about this “non” party before. Sometimes I wonder how serious the Libertarian Party is about getting major candidates elected. Or at least noticed.

Either way, I believe its time that Dr. Paul admit he’s not a Republican. Or at least what other people think about when they think about Republicans.

I understand what Representative Ron Paul is doing. He’s trying to fight the party from within. Its not working Dr. Paul. On my radio show, even the Republican co-host didn’t really know much about Ron Paul’s ideas. And he’s generally well-informed.

Dr. Paul is not going to be able to continue to get his message out to possible Republican Voters. He’s tapped that market. Its time to move on to the next.

Organize libertarians Dr. Paul. We are going to support you!! Many of us who are cautious about supporting a Republican candidate want to spread your message. Liberty Liberty Liberty. Its all about the liberty.

We get you Rep. Paul… Now help us get you support.

  1. Three counterpoints:
1.) how would he get national (not just internet) exposure except by participating in these debates as a republican?
2.) Classic Republicans were much closer to libertarians (i.e. Goldwater save foreign policy). Many argue that the party has lost its way.
3.) He is not 100% libertarian either: he wants tight border controls, etc.
4.) It will be nearly impossible to win without a nomination thanks to all of those straight party ticket idiots out there.
5.)He has stated in an interview that he does not intend to run under another party if he does not get the nomination and Ron Paul (at least to this point) is known for his consistency.

  2. I agree with many of your points, I just hope he doesn’t blow the support he’s got by refusing to run as an independent.

I’ve contacted the Ron Paul Campaign, and I’ll post the official answer to whether Ron Paul will Run as Libertarian or Unity08 as soon as I receive it

  3. Thank you for mentioning Unity08! It may be an option for Ron Paul. Who would you propose he run with under a bipartisan ticket?

  4. If it was up to me, I’d choose Jim Gravel, or Even Dennis Kucinich.

I personally wouldn’t choose another top tier candidate who didn’t get the nomination, because he had a chance to get his message out.

I’m not sure the two mentioned above, and Dr. Paul hae been able to do that.

    Thanks for your comment.

For the Record, I’m a Delegate (Bethlehem GA), so I will be trying to play my part.

  5. Fantastic! Please feel free to shoot feedback to us at any time!

  6. You’re missin’ the point, man. It’s about the MESSAGE!

  7. This Country needs to get out of Federal Corporate Debt. Some one must address the fact that the Country is broke, and needs to define the Solution to Solvency.
    Lead, that’s all, Lead.

  8. Stop supporting the party and start supporting the person. And how is Ron Paul not a Republican when he has served 30+ years as a REPUBLICAN!!! I don’t support him because he’s a Republican or would it make a difference if he was Libertarian or Democrat, I support him because he’s the only candidate that will bring the power back to the people and the only candidate that follows the Constitution.

And can someone please explain to me what the difference is between what the parties stand for anyway??? Anyone??? If war mongerers “Queen” Hillary Clinton or Rudi “ship all the evidence to China” Gouliani ran as a Libertarian would you support them, just because they had an L by their name.

By well-informed, do you mean by the major media - tv and radio? That would make him well-dis-informed.

I’ll talk to you in the morning. Brad

  9. Name recognition counts. Unless Ron Paul can get access to the mainstream media, he probably doesn’t stand a chance, without that free publicity.
