Can Ron Paul Get Elected?

Buy Ron Paul stuff on Amazon

This is a tough question. The optimist in me wants to say: “The American people are starting to see the light, and Ron Paul can help America start to turn the tide”.

The Pessimist part of me keeps saying: “He can’t win because he doesn’t have a fair shake. He doesn’t have the p.r. machine, or the money to buy ads, so he can’t get his message out”.

I’d love to help get Ron Paul nominated for the Republican ticket. That would be optimal.

But because I fear this to be, at this point at least, unlikely I have decided to institute a three chance strategy to help Dr. Paul get more attention, and eventually nominated on a ticket that can compete, at least enough to get enough attention to continue the cause. I’d like to briefly outline this strategy

Vote for Ron Paul in your Republican primaries

1) I will likely vote for Ron Paul in my state’s primary. I will also attempt to convince as many readers and friends to do the same. As I mentioned before, this is the optimal situation, though the least likely.

But the more people who learn about Ron Paul through his affiliation with the Republican Party, the more people who will likely follow him (or recruit him, as may need to be the case) to the next chance.

Draft Ron Paul to accept the Libertarian nomination

2) I believe that the Libertarian Party would welcome another Ron Paul Presidential run. He’d bring a lot of attention to the party, and have the best chance to really compete ever. This would be great for the Libertarian Party, and even though Ron Paul has said he’s not interested in doing this, its going to be hard for many of his supporters to give up and support Giuliani or Clinton if he’s not the nominee. Many of us see that this is not just a Ron Paul Revolution, but an attempt by the people to re-establish control of the government.

Nominate Ron Paul to the Unity 08 ticket

3) I am a founding delegate of Unity 08. If you are not familiar with what Unity 08 is, visit their website. To summarize, the delegates will nominate a Republican and a Democrat to represent the ticket via an online vote. If the winner accepts the nomination, they will be given the ticket’s support for the campaign. I feel that if the people who followed him from either the GOP or the LP joined Unity 08, and voted for him in the online nomination process, we could form a powerful block, and shape the ticket to really have a chance to change the way things are run in Washington DC.

So I know, I’m trying to think 3 steps ahead of a process that really hasn’t gone into full-speed mode yet. The fact of the matter is, if you support Ron Paul, and are not willing to take no by the GOP for an answer, its time to start thinking about what’s next. Vote for Ron Paul in the Republican primary in your state, and tell people to do the same.

Just don’t put all of your eggs into a basket that is as badly made as the GOP.

  1. “As I mentioned before, this is the optimal situation, though the least likely.”

    Getting more likely every day…

  2. The unity ticket is an interesting idea. If both the Democratic and Republican candidates were hated enough it just might work. Paul/Gravel or Paul/Richardson would do it for me.

  3. Just support. It’s going to be alright. Let the band play the songs they want to.

  4. I don’t think Dr. Paul would be eligible to run on the LP ticket in the general election after running for the Republican nomination (read somewhere that it would violate LP bylaws), nor do I think Paul would run on the LP ticket again anyway… he has stated that he would not run as an independent but that doesn’t rule out the possibility of a run on the Constitution Party ticket if he doesn’t get the Republican nomination…

  5. NO on the libertarian stuff — LP is going nowhere, it’s a dead end.

NO on the ‘unity’ ticket. It’s a ploy to infiltrate socialistic ideas into the freedom movement and it is NOT welcome. Don’t be so naive. Richardson and Gravel are just about communists, Richardson is a racist who belongs to LaRAZA…

Please educate yourself on that stuff!

Yes on voting for him in the primary.

He’s got plenty of money — just made $2.5M

Why not send him a donation?

  6. I just realized you are saying you are part of this Unity ‘08 scam.

You are playing right into the hands of the globalists with this one…

Ron Paul wants nothing to do with socialism, or socialists in disguise as Democrats, who are merely working for the new world order…same as Bush..

PLEASE educate yourself before you fall for these SCAMS!

  7. I just posted this on the Unity ‘08 site — but lo and behold, just like Hillary’s site, it’s MODERATED. That should tell you something right?

Beware movements like this Unity ‘08 movement to put two people who are diametrically opposed in philosophy on the same ballot.

These groups Ed in ‘08, Unity ‘08, Carbon Coalition, Priorities NH, all showing up at conservative events trying to infiltrate. Run ‘em out on a rail!

In NO WAY does a good conservative like Ron Paul want to be associated with socialists like Richardson or Gravel or socialists in disguise as Democrats.

This is just a way to diffuse the freedom movement and promote the agenda of the NWO (carbon tax, and all the other nonsense the UN wants)

Please do NOT fall for it! Use your head. Why does Ron Paul NOT associate with the wackjobs like Cindy Sheehan and other anti-war, anti-Bush people? Because as he says, “they have another agenda”.

Yes folks, globalism. I mean doesn’t it throw up a red flag that SAM WATERSTON is part of this? His dad directed me in a few productions, and they are nice people but whoaaaaaaa, NO WAY do his political views fit with the freedom movement.

    Consider yourselves educated.

  8. And when Ron Paul has dropped out of the race, we invite you to support the Real Libertarian in the GOP Presidential Primary - Rudy Giuliani.

Latest polls have Giuliani surging to 37% among GOP Primary voters. (Ron Paul still hovering in the 0 to 2% range.)

Support Victory over Islamo-Fascism. Libertarians for Giuliani in ‘08!!

  9. Ron Paul will have big enough problems getting reelected to his Congressional seat. Folks down here in South Texas are steaming mad at him for saying that he thinks America was to blame for 9/11.

  10. “Freedom is about Authority” - Rudy Giuliani

Mainstream Libertarism as you call it, is no more libertarian than the neo-conservatives were conservatives.

And I know lots of people from Texas, and none of them were dumb enough to believe he blamed 9/11. He blamed bad policy, such as going to Iraq when OBL was not there. Although there have been many who have claimed he did. Which makes you have to wonder, what their motive behind it is.

Of course, we know you are just using it for publicity. Just trying to ride the coat-tails of what you see in the MSM media polls of 300 people. Smart I guess, it is about the only chance you have that someone would actually vote for you. Of course, extremely short sighted as well since you will have committed political suicide if you lose.

  11. THE G BLOG SAID

Mr. Anonymous has a lot of nerve coming in and accusing me of being NWO. He obviously hasn’t been reading my blog.

He expects me to believe that if Ron Paul accepted the Unity nomination that he’d all of a sudden become NWO?

Whos to say who is NWO? If you think I am, then you probably think most people are. You come off sounding very, well like you’ll fall for anything.

I’m saying if the Ron Paul Movement took over Unity 08, by signing up and voting for Dr. Paul, who cares that Sam Waterson is NWO….

I’m outlining the different ways to get Ron Paul elected.

You guys who think he’s going to win the Republican nomination need to get your heads out of the sand!

  12. Solve the problem….

    Just vote for me….

    Randall Holder
    08 President Elect!

I have been a Republican all of my voting life, but I am sick and tired of all the politics….Get behind the movement and make the change and give the country back to the people!

  13. I think the best strategy for Paul may be to pursue the Unity 08 route. Like G, I presume the Rep nomination is out of reach, so he might as well start laying the groundwork now if he truly wants to continue on.

And Giuliani as the real libertarian? That’s a nice laugh.

  14. Giuliani a libertarian, give me a break.

Read and sign the Ron Paul Is Right – Abolish the Federal Reserve Petition at http://www.petitiononline.com/fed/petition.html

  15. He can’t get elected, but I pretend he can, and I hope this gets some of the message out.

The real way for libertarians to start making a difference is to quit arguing at a local level and act. There are small towns where libertarians could essentially take over with 300 votes. It is that type of grass roots organizing that will make a difference. After all , that is how the Republicans rebuilt their party into the monstrous thing it is now.

I don’t want Ron Paul to be the libertarian candidate for president. He is not libertarian enough. His position on immigration is wrong. He is not strong on legalization or decriminalization of drugs. And he could be a lot stronger on gay rights. He is more of a constitutionlist than a libertarian. Don’t get me wrong I am strongly supporting him, but if he does not get the GOP nomination he should not be nominated on the libertarian ticket.

    ~Becky

  16. Of course he can’t get elected. But that’s no reason for hiim not to run and to continue to run. Because if he’s running, libertarian ideas are getting out there, and as people hear rational arguments, they can and will (eventually) be swayed.
